Almond Valley Heritage Centre

At the heart of the site lies the range of historic buildings that make up Mill Farm and Livingston Mill. The power of the river still turns the 200 year old mill machinery, and traditional livestock still moo and bleat around the byres and barns of the farm.

Gillespie Macandrew Hopetoun International Horse Trials 30th 31st July 2011

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in Scotland

The Gillespie Macandrew Hopetoun International Horse Trials is a spectacular new event set in the parkland of Hopetoun House on the banks of the Forth. Said by some to be one of Scotlands finest Stately Homes, Hopetoun House makes an elegant backdrop to this event. Some of the world’s leading riders will be competing. The horse trials consists of three phases: dressage, show jumping and cross-country.  Each competitor completes each phases individually and is awarded penalties accordingly.  The penalties from each phase are then added together to determine the result.  The winner is the horse and rider combination with the least penalties. It is very exciting to watch but if you want a diversion from horses for a while then head to the Shopping Village! The  ShoppingVillage is spread over two areas, the exclusive West Lawn and the Deer Park, and will include a Craft Tent. There will be plenty of food retailers providing a wide variety of products in addition to a restaurant and bar.  To get to the event in your West Lothian Motorhome Hire follow the event signage from the A904 to the designated public parking area within the Hopetoun Deer Park.  Please be aware parking is in fields rather than on manicured lawns so practical footwear and all terain children’s buggy’s are the order of the day. Your West Lothian Motorhome Hire is a heavy front wheel drive vehicle so avoid parking on soft ground. Parking so that you roll forward on a slope will assist you driving off grass. Be aware that in exceptional wet weather you may not get off grass without assistance. There will be a £5 charge for car parking, payable on the day. Those buying a weekend pass will only require purchasing one car parking pass for the weekend. For more information on the Hopetoun  International Horse Trials click on the blue text.

Linlithgow Palace

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in West Lothian

Linlithgow Palce was an important Scottish Royal Residence. It is now sadly in ruins, enough of it is still standing for the visitor to be able to explore the site and conjure up with a little imagination what life in such a big palace would have been like.
