Traveling in your Motorhome hire rental vehicle on the A837 north of Inchnadamph at the east end of Loch Assynt you can visit two historic ruins. The shell of Calda House and, a little to the west, the ruins of Ardureck castle are easy to spot from the road. There is a parking area for your campervan hire and some excellent information boards. It’s a short enjoyable walk to both ruins but be aware these are dangerous structures, so stand clear of possible falling masonry. The castle dates back to 1490, originally owned by the Mcleods of Assynt. There is an interesting story of betrayal of hospitality attached to the castle.
