Biddulph Grange Garden

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in England

Biddulph Grange Garden is a Victorian garden created by James Bateman. His plant collection comes from all over the world. He created themed areas taking his inspiration from gardens from all over the globe, an Italian terrace, an Egyptian pyramid, a Himalayan glen and Chinese garden will delight the eye. So take your campervan hire here and visit the world in one place! Here is also a stunning collection of rhododendrons. Walking around these gardens is a real delight and will certainly give inspiration to all of us with even the smallest patch of garden.  This garden is also unique in the fact it holds the oldest surviving golden larch in Britain, brought from China by the great plant hunter Robert Fortune. There are quite a few steps around the garden, but that adds to the interest giving different heights and vistas. The china garden is a particular favourite because it houses a building in the style of a replica Chinese temple. Stood reflecting its image in the pool, decorated with gilded dragons, sea horses and hanging bells it is a magnificent sight. If you are on your campervan hire holiday in Staffordshire this is the place for photo opportunities on a nice fine day. If you are able to visit these gardens and want to share your photographs with us please let me know. For those of you who also like to check out the tea rooms for the obligatory tea and cake there is a tea-room and Acorn café. The property is owned and managed by the National Trust and they also invite you to browse the world-themed gift shop and plant centre. Check their website at Biddulph Grange Garden prior to setting out in your camper van hire to get opening times and admission prices etc. To get there drive 1 mile north of Biddulph, 3½ miles south-east of Congleton, 7 miles north of Stoke-on-Trent.  Then gain access from the A527 (Tunstall to Congleton road). The entrance is on Grange Road

Leek Camping and Caravanning Club Site

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in England

This campsite is only about two or three miles from the town of Leek which has a new pedestrians shopping centre. The town also has some interesting antique shops to browse. The campsite is close to the potteries, the Peak District and Alton Towers. Alton Towers is a theme park with plenty of excitement for all the family. Some of the rides will take your breath away! Expect to find it a bit challenging for older more timid campers who take their teenagers there! If like me, you do not fancy hurtling through the air at great speed, it will be best to watch others dare to attempt some of the spectacular rides. There are also tamer, quieter rides for the less adventurous. For those of you attempting any ride involving water I do recommend having a dry tee shirt at the ready when you have finished. The log flume was great fun, but I was very wet for a couple of hours afterwards and grateful it was a warm sunny day! There are also lovely gardens at Alton Towers and a Caribbean lagoon-style Waterpark. Whilst you are in the area take a drive on to Derbyshire to visit Chatsworth House. This truly magnificent historic house is set in beautiful rolling parkland with garden, farmyard and adventure playground. The site at Leek has seventy pitches. There are some all weather pitches available but some pitches are sloping and chocks are required. Booking your pitch well in advance is essential if you want to ensure hard standing for your Staffordshire Motorhome Hire.
