Butterfly World Project will open its doors to the public after the winter of 2012 after a spend of £27 million pounds. Clive Farrell, conceived this vision of having the worlds largest butterfly Biome based in Hertfordshire, England. As you would expect, Clive is a butterfly fanatic and lepidopterist with a project that began in 2008 and is now under completion. The project will be open from 8th April 2011. The Biome can house over 10,000 tropical butterflies with humming birds and other creatures, it is a vast size being 100m wide and 17.5 m high. Expect to see, tropical rainforests settings, underworld caves with insect’s spiders and scorpions. It has canopy walkways with intermittent thunderstorms. This is a really amazing place for the whole family to visit. Patrons who support this project include Sir David Attenborough, Professor Dr David Bellamy, Alan Titchmarsh and many more. The location of Butterfly World Project is well signposted with brown signs and a white butterfly symbol that are visible at most junctions locally. If you are driving on the M1 leave at junction 6 heading towards St Albans. Turn left into Noke Lane (just 300 yards down the road) and continue, take the right turn into Miriam Lane. The entrance to Butterfly World Project is clearly visible just half a mile along Miriam Lane. If you are traveling in your Hertfordshire Motorhome Hire and using the post code for your Sat Nav, it is wise to ignore it when you are close to the venue. Your Sat Nav will take you down Chiswell Green Lane instead of the main entrance. Follow the butterfly signs instead. For more information about this amazing venue click the blue text below.
