London Stansted Airport Motorhome Hire

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in Cambridgeshire

Stansted Airport is situated approximately 40 miles north-east of the city of London, close to Stevenage and Chelmsford barely away from the M11 motorway. To reach Stansted: exit the M11 at junction 8 then take the first round about sign posted for Colchester and follow the A120 to the airport through two more roundabouts.

In 1942 USAAF bomber base was built at Stansted. Subsequently Stansted experienced a frosty reception in the proposal for a civil airport. Not until the end of the 1970 oil crisis did the government green light the project and development began.

Stansted’s award winning novel terminal was unveiled in 1991. Since then, Stansted has gone from strength to strength with the evolution of cheap package tours and inexpensive budget airline flights.

Wifi Access is available at the airport and is supplied by a number of Network providers including T-Mobile, BT Openzone, The Cloud Networks and Boingo. Wireless hotspots are sign-posted within the airport. Internet desks with high speed broadband connections are even available before and after airport security.

In addition to all of the great facilities on offer at Stansted, London Stansted Airport motorhome hire allows travellers to go straight from airport to open road.

Milton Country Park

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in Cambridgeshire

To drive to Milton Country Park follow the signposting off the A10 and A14 in cambridgeshire. Take the Milton exit from the A10 andA14 roundabout down into the village itself. Turn right at the roundabout near Tesco and to drive through an industrial estate into the car park. Once you’ve turned into the estate at the roundabout outside Tesco, keep straight ahead until you reach the Park entrance (ignore your sat nav which may encourage you to take a right turn!).  The Park shares the same postal code as the Industrial Estate so your Sat Nav mistakenly tries to take you into the Industrial Estate. This is a really lovely park for a stroll and its not far from Cambridge City Centre. You can also access the lakes with your vehicle via Car Dyke Road, Waterbeach. Parking for the daily use associated with the Sports Centre/Boathouse will be in block paved bays. Additional parking in grassed areas will be available during events. The Lakes were created from old gravel pits and now has a varied natural habitat interlaced with over two miles of paths, suitable for bicycles and wheelchairs, as well as those keen to walk. Dogs are welcome. The paths for walkers connect to the River Cam, Milton Country Park and Fen Road, linking the park to Milton Village in the south.  The Park includes a Visitor Centre with cafe, two play-areas, multiple viewing platforms, a sensory garden and sun clock. The car park, the Visitor Centre, and toilet block are open from 9am each day, every day of the year except Christmas Day. Rangers are on duty in the park at these times. Closing times vary according to the season. If you are visiting Cambridge in your East Anglia Motorhome Hire vehicle and would love a stroll in the countryside this could be the ideal spot to take the family. Saint Ives Farmers Market Saturday August 6th 2011

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in Cambridgeshire

If you are traveling in Cambridgeshire on Saturday 6th August it is worth heading for Saint Ives for some real food shopping! There is something about a farmers market in a small town that brings it to life. Choosing fresh local fruit and vegetables as well as local speciality food and understanding the tastes of the locality is what makes traveling so interesting. Wandering around market stalls on a sunny day with all the colour of displays of fruit and vegetables can be fruitful and mouthwatering experience. Getting to enjoy local produce is bound to be a joy, because Saint Ives is surrounded by England’s rich fenland soil which produces some of the best foods in the country. The farmers Market is held right in the town centre so parking your Cambridgeshire Motorhome Hire could be a problem on such a busy Saturday. It may be best to park on the outskirts of town and enjoy a walk in as car parks will be teeming with busy shoppers. Remember, it is often other people who may do the damage to your Cambridgeshire Motorhome Hire if you park in tight car park situations. The Saint Ives farmers Market is definitely worth a short walk to find and it is open from 8.30am till 2pm.

Tomato Festival at Wimpole Estate

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in Cambridgeshire

You always tend to think of Spain as the place to go to visit a tomato festival. Not so, here in Cambridgeshire in August is the very thing! Hopefully sunshine but certainly tomatoes! A celebration of this versatile fruit takes place with lots of local food stalls, tasting table, tomato recipes to taste. Some of these are incredibly unusual, for instance, tomato and basil icecream! I’m not sure if this is a sweet or savoury dish and for those of you attending or those of you who are foodies, I would appreciate some one letting me know. The excellent thing about going to this unusual event whilst on your Motorhome hire  in East Anglia is the ability to store any food you purchase in your fridge. You can even store tomato ice-cream in the little freezer. Compost is perhaps a little less exciting, but you can also learn how to make it. The garage area in your Motorhome Hire will also give you space to put all those plants you want to purchase. Wimpole Estate is owned and run by the National Trust. Normal Garden Admission tickets apply and it is open from 10.30am till 5pm. Parking is adjacent the stable block. There is also a National Trust shop and tea room. Admission. The Wimpole Estate is 8 miles south west of Cambridge. Turn off at Junction 12 off M11 or Junction 9 off A1(M)

SEARCH: Motorhomes for Hire in Cambridgeshire

It all starts with the Village Fair on the Green at 12 pm on the 9th July 2011.  The actual pea shooting starts about around 1pm. This is the main fund raising event of the year for the upkeep of the Village Hall. There is a practice area available and anyone can have a go.  Entry on the day: Price £2 ( £1 for juniors). Peashooters and peas can be purchased. You’ll compete against the best teams not only from England, but also from the United States and New Zealand. It’s a game of 12s: 12-inch tubes, 12-feet distance, 12-feet targets. The competition tends to be dominated by local entrants, though a small number travel from around the world. Now is your chance to become a world champion pea shooter on your Cambridgeshire Motorhome Hire holiday. Alternatively, be a spectator and you and will still have a fun time with all the cake stalls, bottle stalls, lunch time barbeque and cream teas served in the hall. It was conceived as a fund-raising idea for the Village Hall by the headmaster of the village school, John I. Tyson (1925–2002) and the first competition held in 1971.
