Newcastle airport began in 1935 as a modest airfield with workshops.

In the 1950′s Newcastle airport offered up package tours to European destinations. These package deals quickly got off the ground and proved to be popular and by the 1960′s Newcastle airport had extended with the building of a new tower and runway to cope with the high demand.
